Biography
Clinton Foy is a General Partner and Managing Director at CrossCut Ventures, a leading early stage venture capital firm based in Los Angeles. Clinton has deep experience building, leading, advising, operating, and investing in top international video game and technology companies including Square Enix and Super Evil MegaCorp.
Prior to CrossCut Ventures, Mr. Foy was the COO, General Counsel, and head of the mobile and online groups at Square Enix, a $3 billion video game and digital media publisher. As COO and head of all corporate development for Square Enix, Mr. Foy was instrumental in the EIDOS acquisition, a $120 million acquisition of five international studios and the Tomb Raider, Thief, Deus Ex, and Hitman franchises. In seven years at Square Enix, Mr. Foy oversaw more than 100 product launches across a dozen platforms and grew annual revenues to more than $300 million. Mr. Foy has earned numerous game credits on such award winning games as Batman Arkham Asylum, Final Fantasy XI, XII, XIII, Dead Island, Supreme Commander, and Lara Croft Tomb Raider.
Prior to Square Enix, Mr. Foy practiced law with the Heller Ehrman Venture Law Group in Seattle, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley, representing top technology clients including Microsoft, Sony, Fujitsu, and Yahoo. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Washington and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Foy also has extensive international experience working with technology companies and institutions in Japan and Asia.
Mr. Foy earned a BA from the University of Notre Dame, JD from the University of Washington School of Law, and MA from Stanford University Graduate School.
